Police stations exclusively for SCs to prevent atrocities

Eluru, Aug 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government will soon set up six police stations exclusively for Scheduled Castes in 'sensitive areas' to prevent atrocities against them according to Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose.

Talking to UNI here, he said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had instructed officials to identify the sensitive areas and the process was on.

Mr Bose said a special court, headed by a district judge, would also be set up in the state to deal with long pending and sensational cases of atrocities against the SCs. The state government would identify ten to 12 such cases and refer it to the special court.

The Minister also reviewed the arrangements for the public meeting of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at college grounds, along with Minor Irrigation Minister Maganti Babu and Zilla Parishad Chairperson K V Nageswara Rao.
