Modi to inaugurate SEZ for apparel park

Ahmedabad, Aug 29 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) Apparel Park tomorrow at Khokhara area of Ahmedabad.

According to a release, Mr Modi has decided to make use of the land covered by textile mills that have been lying defunct for years in the walled city of Ahmedabad. The state government has procured 95 acre of land of textile mills through official liquidator from Gujarat High Court. The government has procured 20 hectares of land for the Park from Ambika Mill, Bharat Suryoday Mill, Sarangpur Cotton Mill and Silver Cotton Mill.

In the first phase of the Park, 27 readymade garment production units will be set up, while in the second phase 30 readymade garment production units will be set up.

The state government has allotted Rs 33.46 crore for the development of textile and garment industries this year. The government has plans to launch various projects like apparel training, settlement of GSTC mill, training to powerloom weavers through Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association (ATIRA), the release added.
