Bangalore, Aug 29 (UNI) Security at all dam sites in Karnataka will be tightened following widespread threat of terrorism, Irrigation Minister K S Eswarappa said today.

Speaking to newsmen here he said he would soon discuss the issue with Home Minister M P Prakash about the modalities to ensure safety of the dams.

Earlier, he held a discussion with a delegation from Shimoga district and assured to provide water to Tarikere Taluk while implementing the Upper Bhadra Project through a special package.

Bhadra Dam modernisation programme had already been taken up at a cost of 910 crore and would be completed by December 31, he assured.

He said the modernisation programme had been included in the Prime Minister's Package. However, if the response was not forthcoming from the centre, then the state itself would provide funds for it, he added.
