JD(U) demands Lalus dismissal for instigating communal violence

Patna, Aug 29 (UNI) The JD(U) today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to immediately dismiss Railway Minister and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad from the Union cabinet for instigating communal violence in Bhagalpur.

JD(U) National President and spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari told newspersons here that the manner in which Mr Prasad and wife Rabri Devi tried to give the Bhagalpur incident a communal colour was sufficient ground for Mr Prasad's dismissal.

Mr Tiwari said his party would write to the Prime Minister with ''concrete proof'' and alleged that RJD supporters had spread rumours about the death of the youth whom the police had brutally beaten up. ''The rumour had triggered tension and a mob attacked Nathnagar police station,'' he said while adding, ''The situation has, however, been brought under control by the administration and only then the mediapersons were allowed to meet the youth.

''Mr Prasad is a communal person by nature and out of his frustration he is trying to instigate communal tension,'' Mr Tiwari alleged.

''Such people with communal bent of mind should immediately be dropped from the Union Cabinet,'' he said.

''On reopening the Bhagalpur riot cases, it was found that the Lalu-Rabri duo had tried to protect those who had induldged in the riots,'' he further alleged.
