Give full powers to NCSC to effectively implement reservation: Buta

Bangalore, Aug 29 (UNI) The comprehensive Reservation Bill, which is pending for approval with the Union Cabinet is the only answer to implement the reservation for the people belonging to Scheduled Castes in toto, Chairman, National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Buta Singh said today.

Speaking to media persons after being felicitated by Government Scheduled Castes Officers and Staff Unions here today, he said the bill is likely to get approved by the Union Cabinet shortly and tabled in the coming Lok Sabha sessions.

"This bill, drafted among others by Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and I, will give full powers to NCSC to implement the reservations to the SCs as per the constitutional guarantees and only this can ensure that the huge backlog is wiped out," he said.

Dr Singh said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assured that the cabinet would give green signal to the bill shortly and present it in the coming Parliament session. "I Hope if not in the coming session the bill will be passed during the next two sessions," he said.
