Committee to look into spectrum criteria
New Delhi, Aug 29 (UNI) To frame a new spectrum criteria, a multi-disciplinary committee should be set up from the Department of Telecom (DoT), Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), TRAI, Wireless Planning Commission (WPC) and GSM and CDMA operators.
In its latest recommendations, the telecom regulator said the Committee must be headed by an eminent scientist or a technocrat from a national level institute.
Also the number of subscriber norms must be enhanced as an interim measure, so that the task of spectrum allocation is not stalled, TRAI said in suggestions that would be placed before the Communications and IT Ministry soon.
The Authority has approached the issues keeping in view the power unleashed by the market forces in the past resulting in unprecedented growth of the sector particularly in the wireless space.
