Centre accepts Tripura's project for tribal development

Agartala, Aug 29 (UNI) The Centre given a nod to allocate special package for implementation of various developmental projects in Tripura's tribal areas.

Official sources here today said the Home Affairs Ministry had released Rs five crore for infrastructure development of those areas.

Earlier, the ministry had announced a special financial package after inking a peace agreement with the National Liberation Front of Tripura in December, 2004.

State Tribal Welfare Minister Jitendra Choudhury said the Centre had already sanctioned funds for educational infrastructure, including a degree college in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Besides, a separate initiative had been taken to rehabilitate the surrendered militants under the Central scheme, Mr Choudhury added.
