"Bourne Ultimatum" clings to top of UK box office

LONDON, Aug 29 (Reuters) Action man Jason Bourne held off a challenge from the critically acclaimed comedy ''Knocked Up'' over the weekend to cling on to top spot at the British box office.

''The Bourne Ultimatum,'' starring Matt Damon, the third in the trilogy based on Robert Ludlum's novels, made 2.8 million pounds in its second weekend, according to Screen International.

But ''Knocked Up,'' the story of a mismatched couple with a problem after a night of passion, made only 1.5 million on its UK debut weekend, despite glowing reviews.

Unchanged at three was former chart-topping police buddy film ''Rush Hour 3'' while ''The Simpsons Movie'' slipped two places to four.

''Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'', based on JK Rowling's fifth book about the young wizard, regained one place to five and has now taken 47.5 million pounds in its seven-week UK run.

Robot action fantasy ''Transformers'' slipped one place to sixth while ''Bratz: The Movie'', which portrays four school girlfriends defying attempts to break up their group, was down three to seventh.

Animated comedy ''Surf's Up'', about a documentary crew at the Penguin World Surfing Championship, fell one place to eighth while musical comedy ''Hairspray'' also slipped one spot, to ninth.
