Badal seeks help of religious groups for quality education

Nanaksar Kaleran, Ludhiana, Aug 29 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today sought the help of religious organisations for setting up educational institutions so as to impart quality education in the rural areas of the state.

Mr Badal was addressing a largely attended religious congregation organized to observe 64th death anniversary (barsi) of Sant Baba Nand Singh here.

Expressing his serious concern over the deterioration in the standard of education in the rural areas, he said that a large number of youth were deprived of the opportunity of good education.

This had led to a wide gap between the rural and urban students.

He lamented that a large number of youth had taken to drugs and other intoxicants. He said that as heads of religious organisations command substantial influence and respect in the rural areas they should motivate the youth towards the educational field. Mr Badal said that top priority was being accorded to ensure free education to the intelligent poor students. Under this program the government has planned to set up one Adarsh School with the latest teaching equipment and other facilities in each constituency of the state.

Apart from this, he said that three Senior Secondary Schools in each constituency were also being upgraded to impart and train students in the changing technologies so that can find employment.
