Traders ask Advani to take up sealing issue

New Delhi, Aug 28: In the wake of the Supreme Court order on sealing drive in 1500 unauthorised colonies of Delhi, a delegation of traders today met Leader of the Opposition L K Advani and urged him to take up issue of regularisation of the colonies with the Union Government.

The delegation, under the aegis of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), impressed upon Mr Advani the need for a permanent solution to the problem.

''We apprised Mr Advani of the uncertainty that prevails due sealing drive and also financial difficulties,'' CAIT General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said.

He said the delegation also requested Mr Advani to take necessary steps to protect the interest of small shopkeepers of the country, who were under threat by the entry of corporate retailers.

Mr Khandelwal said the BJP leader expressed concern over the sealing drive and assured to look into the matter.
