Thai Deputy Prime Minister to visit India

Bangkok, Aug 28: Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Industry Minister Kosit Panpiemras left today for India on a bilateral business promotion trip to Bangalore, New Delhi and Jamshedpur.

The minister is accompanied by Thai business leaders on his trip to India from August 28 to September 4.

Top officials of Thailand's Software Industry Promotion Agency and the National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology are also part of the minister's delegation.

Mr Kosit will meet with Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath in New Delhi.

He will also visit Tata Steel in Jamshedpur.

Thai businesses have invested about 831 million US dollars in 144 projects in India, making the Southeast Asian nation, the 19th largest foreign investor in India.

Thai investments in India are mainly in the telecommunications, food processing, hotels and tourism, construction, electronics and electrical appliance sectors.
