No change in export target if rupee stable: Comm Sec

New Delhi, Aug 28: There will be no change in the export targets if the rupee contines to be at its current levels, Commerce Secretary G K Pillai said today.

India will not revise its export target for the year for March 2008 at 160 billion dollar as long as the rupee stays at levels of Rs 40-41 to a dollar, Mr Pillai said.

Mr Pillai informed that exports grew by 16 per cent in July 2007, and exports will reach the 300 billion dollars mark by 2012-2013 and imports will be at 400 billion dollar in the same period.

The commerce secretary also said that he expects Rs 1.5 lakh crore from SEZ and manufacturing hubs by next year.
