Krishna Central Div to be modernised: Minister

Machilipatnam, Aug 28 (UNI) The Krishna Central Division would be modernised by the Andhra Pradesh Government at an estimated cost of Rs 1,100 crore to help delta farmers, according to Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad Speaking after inaugurating the joint conference of AP Sugarcane Department, KCP Sugars Limited and cane growers at Challapalli, about 25 kms from here, Mr Prasad said the state government was very particular in providing more facilities to the farmers.

The modernisation plan would include irrigation canals, drainage facilities and construction of bridges across canals and drains.

State Sugarcane Commissioner Vidyasagar informred the government had recently sanctioned 26 more sugar factories.

He asked them to select quality seeds giving high yields and adopt new methods in agriculture.
