Farooq to be NC's CM candidate: Omar

Srinagar, Aug 28 (UNI) National Conference (NC) chief Omar Abdullah has said that his father Farooq Abdullah would be the party candidate for the Chief Minister's post in the next Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

''People have forgiven our lapses and are now participating in our public meetings in large numbers. They are disillusioned with the false promises and hollow slogans of the Congress-PDP coalition Government,'' he said in a public meeting in Anantnag.

Lashing out at the ruling coalition for its ''failure'' on all fronts, Mr Abdullah said the corruption in the present dispensation had beaten all previous records.

Dr Abdullah had stayed away from the last state Assembly Elections n 2002 and his absence was considered as one of the main reasons for the NC getting a drubbing in the polls.

UNI
