Youth possessing crackers in temple creates flutter
Puducherry, Aug 27 (UNI) A youth, who visited the famous Manakkula Vinayagar temple with crackers in a bag created flutter here today.
Following the blasts in Hyderabad, the Puducherry police had strengthened security at the worship places, but this morning police apprehended a youth with crackers in a bag near the temple. Since, his answers were not satisfactory, he was taken to the grand bazaar police station for interrogation.
Sivakasi Superintendent of Police (North) Vijay Kumar told UNI here, that based on the interrogation, it was revealed the youth, Mylaprakasam of Virudunagar, working as a reprsentative of Vijay fire works, Sivakasi, was here with samples of crackers for a purchaser Elangovan of Muthialpet and on the way he had a darshan at Sri Aurobindo Ashram, prior to visiting the nearby temple.
Mr Kumar said following police verification, a message from his organisaton confirmed that the youth is their staffer and was in Puducherry with samples of crackers to negotiate with Mr Elangovan, and not for any illegal activities.
Mr Elangovan also confirmed that the youth contacted him.
Mylaprakasam is still in police custody and will be released later.
