New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) Emergency and OPD services in Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) hospital have been paralysed following a strike by Resident and junior doctors.

The doctors are demanding that security in the super-specialty hospital be stepped up and 'one patient, one attendant' policy enforced.

Over 400 doctors went on a flash strike on Saturday after a doctor was manhandled by a patients' relative.

The doctors are also demanding recruitment of nurses and orderlies and installing of equipment.

So far, two rounds of parleys between the Hospital authorities and the Resident Doctors' Association have not borne any result.

RDA representative Vishal Sharma said the Union Health Secretary and the Medical Superintendent of the hospital had assured the association four months ago that the demands will be fulfilled but no action was taken.

''The doctors have to bear the brunt of this in action.... we have been forced to go on strike as we were left with no option,'' he added.
