Pro-Kannada activities gherao SWR offices here
Hubli, Aug 27 (UNI) Activists of pro-Kannada organisations including Ranadhir Pade of Bangalore and Janata party today gheraoed the main office of South Western Railway here, urging for reservation for Kannada candidates for Group 'D' recruitment.
Activists led by veteran Journalist and former Kannada watchdog committee chairman Patil Puttappa, took out a procession through the main streets and submitted a memorandum to SWR General Manager Praveenkumar urging for 80 per cent posts to given to Kannadigas and rest to others.
Addressing the activists Dr Patil Puttappa alleged that only Biharis were being appointed to the 'D' group posts. Even for filling up application forms period given to Biharis was of 45 days while for Kannadigas it was only 25 days. It was the step motherly treatment by the railway towards Kannadigas, he declared.
