Panic grips Mayur Vihar public school after bomb hoax call

New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) Panic spread at a public school in Mayur Vihar area of East Delhi this morning after an anonymous caller reported of a bomb with a timer device planted within the school premises.

A call informing that a bomb had been kept in one of the rooms of A S N Public School in Mayur Vihar-I was received by its principal at about 1130 hrs, said a police official.

''The caller said the time bomb would explode at 1200 hrs sharp leading to panic among school authorities. Moreso because just two days back, twin blasts in Hyderabad had left more than 40 people dead and scores others injured.'' Soon the students were asked to assemble in the school ground and the police informed which rushed along with the bomb squad and sniffer dogs.

''Routine intensive searches were being carried out with the help of experts and detection devices. However, nothing was found after nearly more than an hour of search.'' Searches were still being carried out, he added.
