Nurses resume normal duties at RIMS

Imphal, Aug 27: Nurses under the aegis of the Trained Nurses Association of India, Manipur, resumed duties today at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here.

For two days, the nurses had stopped doing their normal duties as they were demanding regularisation of nurses on contract basis.

An agreement was reached last evening in which the RIMS authorities agreed to promote nurses as per rules and regularise nurses on contract basis, establish nursing college in RIMS.

The RIMS authorities have asked for one month's time to translate the demands into action. RIMS authorities said as they operated under the Central Government the decisions had to be taken at the centre.

Due to the stir, hospital functions had been affected including the casualty department.
