Indian Potash will cater to Punjab's fertilizer demand

Chandigarh, Aug 27 (UNI) Indian Potash Ltd (IPL) has assured the Punjab government that there would be no shortage of DAP in the state during the rabi season (2007-08) and the entire consignment of 3.5 lakh MT of DAP would be supplied positively by October four, before the commencement of wheat sowing.

This assurance was given by IPL Managing Director P S Gehlot to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here today.

During the meeting, Mr Gehlot told the Chief Minister that out of the total quantity of 3.5 lakh MT of DAP, I.30 lakh MT had already been supplied to the state government. He informed that 5,000 to 7,500 MT would be arriving daily in two to three rakes in Punjab.

The Chief Minister thanked Mr Gehlot for taking special initiative for the timely and uninterrupted supply of DAP. He reiterated that there would be absolutely no shortage of DAP during the rabi season and asked the farmers not to be get panicky as the state government had made elaborate arrangements to procure adequate quantity of DAP for the timely sowing of wheat.

Chief Secretary R I Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister D S Guru, Financial Commissioner Development G S Sandhu, MD Punjab Agro A S Chatwal and Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Gagandeep Singh Brar were also present in the meeting.
