Adulterated 'khoya' scares consumers on Rakhi

Lucknow, Aug 27 (UNI) The recovery of large quantity of adulterated and synthetic 'khoya' from here has hit sale of sweetmeat in the city this festive season.

Large quantities of synthetic milk products were seized during a special drive a few days back.

Taking note of the recovery, customers were avoiding sweets made of milk or milk products. Sweets like Ghevar, Laddu and Sohanpapdi were being preferred by the customers.

A sweet shop owner in the posh Hazratganj area says, ''People are avoiding khoya sweets, since the seizure of contaminated khoya.'' Another shop owner Dilip Gupta noted, ''We believe in quality, therefore, we are not making khoya sweets. We want to provide best services to our consumer, therefore no orders are being taken for khoya sweets.'' UNI
