Guwahati, Aug 26 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today squarely put the onus of the rising problem of terrorism in the country on the ''wrong and self-centred'' policies of the UPA Government.

Speaking to reporters here, Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha national president Kiran Maheswari said the ''vote bank'' policy followed by the Congress-led UPA government has fomented the insurgent elements in the country.

''Yesterday's blasts at Hyderabad are a shameful incident. There have been repeated attacks on innocent people and religious places.

This has been done to disturb the normal life of the common people,'' she said.

Indicating that there were inputs of involvement of the banned Harkat-ul-Jehadi-Islami(HUJI) behind the twin blasts at the Andhra Pradesh capital, Mrs Maheswari accused the Centre of being soft on the fundamentalist elements operating in the country from Bangladesh.

''The casual approach of the Centre towards the jehadi elements to appease the minorities has spelt doom for the nation, thereby jeopardising the life of the common man,'' she alleged.

She pointed out that the most brazen instance of the UPA's vote bank policy has the repeal of the POTA act.

Firing salvos at the Assam Government for ''ignoring the interests of the indigenous people and sheltering the illegal Bangladeshis,'' the BJP leader stated that the party would soon organise campaigns in all the districts of the state to mobilize a public opinion against the 'Bangladeshi-appeasement policy' of the state government.
