UP resident arrested with two Kg Charas
Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested a resident of Uttar Pradesh in possession of two Kg charras in north Kashmir.
Superintendent of police, Handwara Haseeb Mughal said police received an information about the smuggling of Narcotic substance from Sopore to Kupwara.
He said on the basis of the information special patrol was deputed today from police post Chogal to Pahrupeth Bus stop.
Mr Mughal said the police party monitored suspicious movements of a person who was carrying a polythene bag and tried to escape from the place on seeing police.
On this, the suspect was apprehended and searched in the presence of SDO Handwara. Two Kilograms of Charas was recovered from his possession.
The arrested person was identifid as Mohd Alam Malik, son of Abdul Malik, resident of Gutibagh Tehsil Murababad Utter Pradesh, presently working at Tikker Kupwara.
He said the charas was concealed in the maize- cobs and was scheduled to be smuggled to Kupwara-Handwara.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 11 timber smugglers and seized large quantity of illicit timber at Kunzar.
