ULFA kidnaps junior engineer in Assam

Guwahati, Aug 25: Suspected ULFA militants tonight kidnapped a junior engineer from Lower Assam's Nalbari district.

Police said junior engineer B Das was kidnapped while he was on his way to his home at Salmora under Belsor police station at around 1930 hours.

The militants, who came in a car, broke away a barricade errected by the police for frisking. The police chase was in vain.

Search operations were launched immediately, and details are awaited.

Extortion is suspected to be the reason behind the kidnapping they said.
