Two forest personnel injured by villagers
Mysore, Apr 26 (UNI) Two forest personnel were assaulted, while another one was kept under confinement by the villagers of Nettakallhundi, on the Karnataka-Kerala border in the early hours of today.
Forest Department sources said that Doddappaji, a Mahout and Mahesh Gowda, forest watcher, were attacked by villagers and another was brutally beaten and tied up to a tree in the village. The personnel were following a man who was moving in the forest suspiciously when the villagers attacked.
The watcher and Mahout sustained injuries on their head and shoulder.
On hearing the news Forest officials rushed to the village and got released another personnel who was tied to the tree.
The reason behind the attack is under investigation.
It may be recalled here that a tribal was killed in a gun battle between forest officials and poachers recently.
