Security tightened in Malegaon
Nashik, Aug 26 (UNI) On the backdrop of the twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad yesterday, killing 42 people and injuring more than 60, security has been tightended in Malegaon of Maharashtra.
As already, police machinery at Malegaon is preparing for a 'Shab-e-Barat' to be held on August 28, the news of the blast at Hyderabad forced the authorities to be more alert about the security arrangements.
After the news of the blast, six places in the city were blocked immediately. Orders were issued to check the places of worship and other sensitive places in the city by bomb squad. Number of patrolling squads was also increased.
Additional superintendent of police Sanjay Patil immediately called a meeting for security in Ayesha Nagar and Bada Kabrastan areas.
He has also appealed to the Maulavis to instruct people to take precaution at the time of Namaz. Three teams of police personnel have been formed, equipped with bomb detection equipment.
Checking of various public places such as cinema halls, market places, lodge and hotels is being done.
There are Deputy SPs, six police inspectors and 300 police personnels have been deployed to monitor the situation. A special quick response team consisting, ten commandos is also arranged.
There may be also some additional security on the 28, police sources said.
Bomb Detection and Destruction Squad (BDDS) will also reach Malegaon tomorrow and undertake checking all through the night.
It was last year on Setember 8, on the same day of 'Shab-e-Barat, a muslim religious festival, 31 people were killed and more than 300 injured in series of bomb blasts which shattered the powereloom town. This year, according to Muslim calendar, the 'Shab-e Barat' falls on Aug 28.
