RDX used in twin blasts

Hyderbad, Aug 26 (UNI) Police today indicated that suspected activists of the Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami had used lethal RDX to trigger the blasts at the Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat in which atleast 42 people were killd.

The main intention of the terrorists was to create a wedge among different communities and hence they selected the busy Koti area where members of a particular community, were in large numbers, highly-placed police sources said.

The blast at the amphitheatre, a few meters away from the high Security State Secretariat had created a big crater after ripping apart the chairs and creatting havoc among the holiday crowd witnessing the laser show, they said, adding that half kg RDX had been used to create such a big blast.

The intensity of the blast at the Gokul Chat also showed that RDX had probably been used, they said, adding the bombs had been placed well above the ground to cause maximum loss of life.

Analysing the nature of the twin blasts and the one that was triggered in the Mecca Masjid on May 18, they said the same group had struck in both the places.

In Mecca Masjid, the terrorists had placed the tiffin box bomb close to the prayer floor, leading to lesser number of casulaties.
