Punjab to strengthen copperatives in state

Ludhiana, Aug 26 (UNI) Cooperative Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh today said that the Cooperative department was all set to adopt aggressive marketing strategy for the marketing of vegetables, fruits and other crops, so that the income of the farmers could be substantially enhanced.

Interacting with mediapersons here today, Capt Singh said that effective steps were being taken to enhance the efficiency, management, production quality and marketing skills of MARKFED and MILKFED to develop "a competitive spirit in these organisations".

He also disclosed that a composite vegetables and fruits processing plant was being set up at Focal Point in Ludhiana by Markfed at a cost of Rs 20 crores shortly.
