Punjab govt to enact SEZ Act

Chandigarh, Aug 26 (UNI) In order to facilitate and expedite the implementation of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) projects in Punjab, the state government would enact Punjab SEZ Act.

Disclosing this here today Industries and Commerce Minister Manoranjan Kalia said that the central government had already notified an IT, SEZ at Mohali. This project is being executed by Quarkcity India Pvt Ltd with investment of Rs 500 crore.

Mr Kalia further said that, another SEZ for pharmaceuticals had also been notified for Mohali. This project would be taken up by Ranbaxy Laboratories with investment of Rs 265 crores.

In addition the central government had granted formal approval for four other SEZ projects, he said and added that a few more SEZs were in the pipeline.
