Pranab Mukherjee offers prayers at Tirumala

Tirumala, Aug 26 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee offered prayers here today.

Mr Mukherjee, who had arrived here yesterday on a two-day visit from Chennai, participated in the Silver Jubilee function at Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidayalayam (SPMVV) and laid the foundation stone for the Rs 5 crore children's hospital and maternity ward, last evening.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B Karunakara Reddy, Executive Officer K V Ramanachary and other officials welcomed him in the temple and Mr Reddy offered him 'prasadam' and presented him a portrait of Lord Venkateswara.

After an overnight stay at the hilltop, he participated in 'Suprabhatha Seva' in the early hours of the day.

Later, he left for New Delhi from Renigunta airport.
