Mayawati flays SP Chief for imposing blames upon her government
Farrukhabad, Aug 26 (UNI) Rebutting the allegations of principal opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today asserted had she been working with enmity, Mr Yadav and his aides would have been in jail.
Addressing an election gathering here, she said, ''The opposition SP party was imposing blames upon my government, as they were against the development work being done here.'' ''The SP supremo might have been behind bars with his aides, if the BSP government was working with a feeling of revenge,'' she added.
''The economic status of the country is not good, which might take some time to improve and provide employment to the youth,'' she noted.
Claming that her government aims to uplift the economically weaken section of the upper class, Ms Mayawati said, ''I met the PM twice for approval of a package from the Centre.'' She promised development of rural Vidhan Sabha Constituencies under the Dr Ambedkar Gram Sabha scheme, of which development work of 19,000 would be completed this year.
Blaming the former SP government in UP, she added ''The State was lagging due to the lackadaisical attitude of Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav.'' Ms Mayawati claimed, ''A decrease has been seen in the crime rate of the State, since her government came to power.'' UNI
