Lal Baug begins preparations to welcome its 'Raja'

Mumbai, Aug 26 (UNI) People residing at Lal Baug area in Central Mumbai have begun preparatory works, ahead of the Ganesh festival to welcome their beloved god Lord Ganesh, known in the area as 'Lal Baug ka Raja'.

The 'Lal Baug ka Raja' is reverred by the people because it is known to fulfil their wishes.

Today, the area was crowded with people as they ventured out to buy things from the local flower market.

''While the gigantic idols of 'Lal Baug ka Raja' and Ganesh Gully are assembled here, the raw materials used for making the Ganesh idols are brought from different places across the state. Later, city-based artisan D Dave gives them the true form,'' said Dagdu Sakpal, local MLA and chief patron of Lal Baug ka Raja Mandal, the association that organises the celebrations.

He said the preparations for 'Lal Baug ka Raja' are in full swing and both the volunteers and devotees are very enthusiastic about the same.
