Jetlite aircraft's hydraulic system fails while landing in Varanasi

Varanasi, Aug 26 (UNI) A major accident was averted here at the Babatpur airport today when hydraulic system of the 737 Boeing aircraft of Jetlite failed during its landing.

Flight No-115 Delhi-Patna-Varanasi-Delhi had a major escape when the front wheels got jammed after hydraulic system failure during landing resulting in bursting of the front tyres.

However, Airport sources said the pilots used emergency mechanism to stop the plane and 68 passengers were evacuated safetly from the aircraft.

Source said the incident occurred at around 1555 hrs and efforts are underway to remove the aircraft which had blocked the runway.

Meanwhile, due to the snag, a Spicejet flight from New Delhi could not land at Babatpur while an Indian flight to New Delhi was cancelled. The Indian aircraft was waiting at the airport and was to take off after the arrival of Jetlite flight.
