H'bad blast: High security in Tirumala

Tirupati, Aug 26: Police sounded a red alert and beefed up security at all historical temples, including the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala in Chittoor District after two separate blasts including a powerful explosion at the Lumbini Park, located few metre away from the high security zone of Andhra Pradesh Secretariat, yesterday night.

Police and Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) vigilance officials ensured high security at Padmavathi temple in Tiruchanur, Kalahasthi temple in Srikalahasthi, Varasiddi Vinayaka temple at Kanipakkam, mosques in Chittoor, besides other places of worship.

Security had also been intensified at all railway stations and bus depots in the district.

A report from Eluru said West Godavari authorities sounded a high alert in the district following bomb blasts at Hyderabad, especially on the National Highways of the Chennai-Kolkata sector.

Security had also been tightened in view of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi's visit here on September one.
