Haryana to strengthen power transmission system

Gohana, Aug 26 (UNI) The Haryana Government would incure a sum of Rs 24,312 crore on strengthening the transmission and distribution systems in the state during the 11th plan period.

This was revealed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, after laying the foundation stone of 33KV substation to be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.20 crore at village Bichpari, 20 km from here today.

With the commissioning of this substation, about 3800 consumers including 275 tubewells consumers of eight surrounding villages would be benefited by way of getting improved power supply and better voltage. The Chief Minsiter said that the Government was giving top priority to the power sector with an aim to supply adequate power to the consumers in the state. He said that during next two and half years an additional 5000 MW of power would be added in the power kitty.

He said that a number of power projects had been initiated included setting up of a 600 MW Thermal Plant at Yamunanagar and 1200 MW Thermal Plant at Khedar in district Hissar. A 1500 MW power plant would be set up at Jhajjar before the commencement of 2010 Commonwealth Games and the state's share in this project would be 750 MW.

Another 1320 MW power plant would be set up at Jhajjar and the state would get 90 percent of the power generated by this project.

While referring to the power supply during summer and paddy season, he said that it was targeted to supply 10 percent extra power to the consumers during current year as compared to the last year.

The State supplied 18 percent more power to the consumers during the month of July.

He said that more than 2.20 lakh new domestic connections would be released to the people living Below Poverty Line under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna during the current financial year. The domestic and tubewell load of 11 KV feeders supplying power to the rural areas would also be segregated to ensure more power to the domestic category consumers daily under the scheme.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated Tele Medicine Medical Kiosk in the Community Health Centre here. This would link the health centre directly with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi.

During the launch, the Chief Minister talked with the Union Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal and urged him that such types of tele medicine facilities should be provided throughout the state.
