"Govt. committed to remove regional imbalance": Kumaraswamy

Belgaum, Aug 26 (UNI) Karnataka Government was committed to remove regional imbalance, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said today.

Speaking after laying foundation for construction of 'Suvarna Vidhana Soudha' here, he said that in the direction of removing regional imbalance the government has taken a bold step of constructing of the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha building at a cost of Rs 230 Crores.

Allying fears about postponement of World Kannada Conference scheduled for next month, Mr Kumaraswamy said that the Conference was postponed twice earlier due to floods and elections. "But this time it would be held in grand manner, don't have any doubt in it", he added.

Mr Kumaraswamy said that Belgaum would become second Capital of the State.

The Chief Minister alleged that the Union government has been showing step motherly treatment to the State in all respects.

Mr Kumaraswamy advised neighbouring Maharashtra to concentrate more on problems faced by that State instead of instigating for rising Belgaum border issue.

Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) President H D Deve Gowda and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who participated in the function along with the Chief Minister refused to reply to a question on transfer of power to BJP by JD(S) in October saying that "we have decided to maintain silence on the issue till October".
