DU Principals to probe widescale failure
New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Delhi University has set up an expert group to look into the high failure rate of the second year students of a new Bachelor of Science course, campus officials and students said today.
''Most of the students with good academic records have either failed or have got ER-- Essentially Repeat,'' students petitioned DU vice chancellor Deepak Pental on Thursday.
''This is not the case with just one college but with all the colleges across Delhi University,'' the petition said.
Students who had also staged a protest on Friday demanded a re-evaluation of the examination process and modification of results.
On Friday, the VC set up a committee of five principals headed by Maitreyi college principal Savita M Dutta to look into the issue.
DU officials acknowledge ''some difficulty'' in one of the subjects owing to a new syllabus introduced after a review, which is being looked into.
