CPI(Maoist) bandh passes peacefully

Ranchi, Aug 26 (UNI) The twenty-four hour CPI(Maoist)-sponsored bandh called to protest the arrest of their leader passed off peacefully in the state.

The state government had sounded high alert in the naxal infested areas and instructions were also been given to the SPs of those areas including Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and rural areas of the state capital.

Railway sources said that few pair of trains under CIC section including Palamu Express(both UP and DN), Barkakana-Mughalsaria passenger(both UP and DN), Barwadih- Dehri-Asansol passenger and GDR (both UP and DN) remain cancelled in the view of ultras agitation.

Police sources said that state Director General of Police(DGP) Vishnu Dayal Ram had already directed all the Suprintendents of Police(SPs) to keep tab over all activities.

According to reports from Loherdega, Chatra and Palamu buses did not ply on long routes. However, commercial establishements remained open in those districts.

The agitation could not affect normal life in Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Dumka, Garwah and Giridih.

Meanwhile, ultras set ablaze a passenger bus after dragging out all passengers at Muhrenuma Bhuiyadi under Vasisthnagar Jori police station in Chatra district yesterday.

The bandh had been called to protest the arrest of an ultra identified as Nirbhaya from Chaibasa area.
