Hyderabad, Aug 26: Special Secretary (internal security) of the Union Home Affairs Ministry, M L Kumawat, today said they had information after the May 18 blast at Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad that terrorists could strike again in the city.

Mr Kumawat, who visited the blast sites along with other members of his team, told newspersons that the Centre had received information that international terrorist organisations could trigger bomb blasts in the city after the Mecca Masjid blasts, which had claimed 11 lives.

However, the twin blasts that rocked Lumbini Park and Koti areas last night, which claimed more than 40 lives, was not the failure of state and central intelligence, he said, adding, ''It was very difficult where the terrorists would plant explosive devices and trace them immediately.'' Terming the blasts as a 'cowardly act,' which killed innocent people, he said high-intensity explosives with timer devices were used in the twin blasts.

"The investigation teams would find out the terrorist organisations, which was involved in the blasts soon," he added.

Andhra Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory (APFSL) Director Narasimha Murthy said timer devices were used to blast the explosives. Two teams of the APFSL were gathering clues to know the nature of explosives used.

A team of forensic experts from the National Security Guards (NSG) also visited the blast sites and gathered vital clues.
