Blast incident: TDP demands CM's resignation
Hyderabad, Aug 26 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu today demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, owing moral responsibility for the twin bomb blasts which claimed more than 40 lives in the city yesterday.
Addressing the press here, Mr Naidu alleged that the state government had utterly failed to maintain law and order and was not sincere in curbing the terrorist activities.
''Dr Reddy has failed to discharge his duties and the whole police department was paralysed. The Chief Minister has no right to continue in office,'' he demanded.
Stating that the TDP would submit a memorandum to Governor N D Tiwari on the failure of Dr Reddy to maintain law and order, the former Chief Minister said the twin blasts could not have taken place if the police had arrested the terrorists involved in the Mecca blasts on May 18 in the city.
Alleging that the government had failed to provide emergency medical treatment to those severely injured and did not rush a single injured person to the hospital, Mr Naidu said his party would organise protest meetings at mandal-level on August 28.
Terming the twin bomb blast incidents as 'terrible and atrocious,' Mr Naidu said the government was utilising the police department for political gains rather than to curb increasing violent activities.
