193 arrested during vehcile checking in UP

Lucknow, Aug 26 (UNI) As many on 193 people were arrested and over 300 vehicles seized during a vehicle checking drive in the city, officials said.

''Of the 64,607 Light Motor Vehicles (LMV), which were checked yesterday, challan for 2206 were issued '' Additional DGP Brijlal informed today.

''Almost 193 people were arrested, which included 19 criminals.'' Over Rs 2 lakh was recovered as the fine and 19 pistols, a sharp edged-weapon and a large number of cartridges seized during the drive.

Besides, 26 kg silver, 162 litre wine, 10.5 kg marijuana and 500 gm contraband was recovered.
