10 from Maharashtra killed in blasts

Pune, Aug 26: A total of ten people from Maharashtra, including seven students and three professors from the Amrutvahini Engineering College, Ahmednagar district, were killed in the bomb blasts at Lumbini Park in Hyderabad last night.

The bodies of three students will be brought here on an afternoon flight at 1310 hrs.

Ahmednagar police told the sources that around 45 second year students had gone to Hyderabad on a study tour. They had decided to stay back for the laser show and were due to return this morning.

'' The bodies of the three students are charred beyond recognition. We have informed their parents and some have already arrived'', Professor Dr Venkatesh informed on phone from Hyderabad.

The names of the deceased as given by the police are -- Sourabh Kumar (Pune), Irshad Ahmed (Mumbai), Sachin Bhavar, Rajesh Bhor and Milind Mogade from Sangamner in Ahmednagar district.

Some names, including those of professors, still have to be confirmed, police said, adding that three bodies will reach the city by an afternoon flight while the remaining will arrive by 1600 hrs.

Security has been stepped up at the airport, railway station and public places following the a pair of bombings.
