UP issues GO for voluntary reservation in private sector
Lucknow, Aug 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has issued the Government Order (GO) relating to voluntary reservation in the private sector in the state.
The poor among the upper castes would also be eligible for the benefits of such reservation, official sources said here today.
In future, all such industrial units, educational institutions and other establishments, where the state government contributes by way of land, assets or grant, would have to extend 10 per cent reservation facility to SCs; 10 per cent to OBCs and minority community backwards; and 10 per cent to economically weak among the upper castes.
Principal secretary appointments and personnel J S Deepak has issued directives to all the principal secretaries of all the departments in this regard.
Earlier, the newly-elected Mayawati government had already discontinued the scheme of unemployment allowance to educated youth in UP, which was one of the flagship schemes of the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav regime.
The Mayawati government had said the shelved scheme was akin to giving alms to beggers and the present dispensation would create job opportunities on a large scale for the eligible unemployed.
