TN sanctions Rs 99 crore for drinking water supply

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 25 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned Rs 99 crore for augmenting drinking water supply in Tiruchirapalli, State Transport Minister K N Nehru said.

Distributing free colour TV sets to the needy at a function here yesterday, Mr Nehru said the Centre would provide 33 per cent financial assistance to the project, which would be implemented soon.

He said the government had proposed to strengthen the banks of River Cauveri with financial assistance from NABARD.

The government had also sanctioned Rs 31.5 crore for a flood prevention project here, he added.
