Thenucho expresses concern over illegal immigration

Kohima, Aug 25 (UNI) Nagaland Home Minister Thenucho today expressed concern over illegal immigrants in the North Eastern region.

Addressing a two-day seminar on ''Modernization Without Westernisation and Illegal Immigration in Northeast Bharatvarsh'', organised by the Janjati Vikas Samiti here today, Mr Thenucho said, ''If a nation loses its indigenous values or identity, it stands little chance to present itself as strong people to the international community.'' The minister said, ''The illegal immigration has added to the woes of population explosion. If we are not very careful now, very soon the illegal immigrants will outnumber the natives, therefore, it must be checked with urgency.'' He urged the people to come forward with conviction to transform the generation through mutual cooperation, peace and unity.

Representatives from all North Eastern states and political leaders from all over the country attended the seminar, which would continue till tomorrow.
