Tata Steel to complete century on Aug 25
Kolkata, Aug 25:Tata Steel, the first private sector steel plant in India, will complete 100 years of its existence on August 26.
The steel major, with an initial 1,00,000 tonne capacity, is now the sixth largest steel producer in the world with annual production of 26 MT, a company release here today stated.
The plant first stepped into the global market with acquisition of Singapore based NatSteel Limited. It then entered into a joint venture with Australian BlueScope Steel Limited in 2005.
The re-designed Founder's Gallery at Tata Steel Archives would be inaugurated by the MD of the company on the ocassion at Jamshedpur, he added.
He would also launch the www.tatasteel100.com, a site with interactive features like "Share Your Story" and "Impressions", where a viewer can share his memories and experiences with the company. It would also feature "Snapshots", focusing on some historic moments of the company.
The Centenary year of Tata Steel would even witness the launch of long-awaited Air Deccan flight connecting Jamshedpur and Kolkata, which would start its first flight tomorrow, the release added.
