SW Monsoon vigorous, more rains predicted

Hyderabad, Aug 25 (UNI) Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Telangana and Rayalaseema Regions of Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours under the influence of yesterday's cyclonic circulation over West-Central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast.

The system lay today over South Telangana and adjoining areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema extending upto the mid-tropospheric level.

Under its influence, fairly widespread rainfall was likely over Telangana and Rayalaseema during next 48 hours, according to Indian Meteorology Department.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Rain occurred at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh also.

Anantapur recorded heavy rainfall of 18 cm followed by Perur (10 cm), Hakimpet and Karimnagar (9 cm) each and Hyderabad Airport (7 cm).

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are Allagadda and Venkatapuram (6 cm) each, Medak (5 cm), Nizamabad, Nizamsagar, Pathikonda, Ranasthalam and Tekkali and Yellandu (4 cm each) Moderate to rather heavy rainfall or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh also.
