Seven people including two cops arrested

Bahraich, Aug 25 (UNI) Seven people, including two police constables, were arrested for illegal felling of forest trees in Sujaili area here today.

Official sources said a team of forest department officials stopped a truck in Katarniaghat forest area, which was laden with the wood of illegally felled trees.

Those arrested on the spot were identified as constables Ajit Singh and Awdhesh Yadav posted in Sitapur and Unnao districts respectively, truck driver Kanhaiya Lal, Bihari, Nand Gopal, Lal and Arun Singh.

A government rifle and a licenced revolver were also recovered from them.

All the seven accused had been sent to jail.
