Priyanka to build house near Shimla
Shimla, Aug 25 (UNI) Priyanka Vadra, daughter of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, has bought land in Charabbra near here to construct a home in the traditional architecture style of the hill state.
She is keen to build a small bungalow on the four bigha plot along with staff quarters, official sources told UNI.
The picturesque site selected by Ms Vadra is near the President's Retreat, located in the valley below Kalyani helipad, 11 km from the town.
The revenue department of the state granted her permission to buy land here by giving her relaxation from section 118 of Land Revenue Act, prohibiting non-agricultrists from buying agricultural land in the state, official sources said here.
Ms Vadra, keen to have a 'retreat' of her own near the popular tourist town, had made a few visits to Shimla with her husband, Robert Vadra and their two children in the last two years to recce for the right location.
She had seen some places in Mashobra and Charabbra on the outskirts of the town and finally settled for the plot near the 'Retreat', which is owned by some 'private party', sources said.
