Preparations for Dasara festivities is on
Mysore, Aug 25 (UNI) The preparations for the World famous Mysore Dasara Festivities would be commence from September six with the district administration inviting Dasara elephants from the Veerahoshalli camp in Nagarahole National Park and the pachyderms would be received at the city with traditional puja, district incharge minister G T Deve Gowda said today.
Addressing the media persons after the official level meeting of Dasara Festival Committee he said as per the traditional process the administration would welcome the first batch of six elephants, which would arrive in the city on September nine, in front of the Mysore Palace. The officials had been asked to chalk out the programmes for the conduct of Dasara festivities in advance and everything should be kept ready for the inauguration of the festival on October 12, he said.
He said that the various cultural and other tourism promotion programmes would also be conducted in the neighbouring districts like Mandya, Chamarajanagara, Kodagu, Hassan during the ten day dasara festival.
In anther high power committee meeting headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would be held shortly in Bangalore to discuss the ways means of the programmes for the festival. The sub committees has been reduced to nine from 14. he added.
The government has sanctioned Rs 80 lakh for the festival and another Rs 50 lakh would be raised from the issue of gold cards for the festival private sponsors, who have been supporting since last few years. he added.
